Claska - お買い物しナイト

I had a stand at an event held at Claska, a sort of designer's hotel and event space, last Friday (27-11-09). Had a really good time, got friends who popped by and met loads of designer/ editor and illustrator and stuff. I screen printed an original T-shirt design and had some frames on sale as well as some postcards.
Big thanks to Mr.Horiuchi and Mr.Kuranari for hooking me up with the event!

View of Shinjuku

Drawing of the view from my house of Shinjuku. It's gonna be used for my parents' post card. Most of the lines will disappear through the coloring. Went for a sunrise in the background in the end.

Summer gone and Fall is here

Haven't posted anything for all summer, will be posting more regularly now.
Settled in Tokyo now, soon to be a month.
I was told it would be good to have a business card in Japanese... so just made a design for it. Think it might be a bit over-saturated for a small print like a business card so having second thoughts...

T-shirt Making

I've been squatting Fubuki studio in Kichijoji in Tokyo thanks to my friend Matt who works there.
I met Richard there who's a fashion designer and he gave me a hand into t-shirt making. We used "t-shirt kun" T-shirt making kit... a fun way of making your own design on T-shirts!! Only hastle was taking the screens off afterwards but once you get the hang of it its all good.

So first I print my design on a special paper, each colors on a different design all in black, so that the light doesn't go through on the screens. So I've got the outline and the fill and I'll be doing it on the same screen cos' I ran out of screens!

Now I've got it on my screen, the red tape is to cover the other bit of design for the second layer.

Then I put paint and voila, ink's on the T-shirt and you got your design on it!!

Sorry about the random explanation, forgot to take pics as I did it so it's just a little quick explanation in the end.
Thanks Rich for being super helpful and spending time with me on this!!

Old School

A really old drawing I came across going through old papers I had, this is more than 10 years old, I'd even say closer to 15! Quite funny looking at old drawings.

My japanese grandad is turning 88... pretty old.
In japan you have a special celebration for the 88th birthday so i made a special illustration for him.
My other grandad and my brother have their birthday on the same day (feb14th) so I gotta come up with more stuff...

Self Portrait

I have been going on about this for ages now, but if all is well my website should FINALLY be remade and updated, learning dreamweaver etc took longer than planned and a 9 to 6 job hasnt helped too much. Gotta pay the rent! Anyways, this is the sketches I made for the self portrait I'm making for the "about" page for my website.

Loads of peeps

This is a drawing I made over the last holidays, just loads of characters in my usual doodle style. I colored it but I think it actually works better in B&W, maybe I colored it badly. So this is the B&W one!

Old stuff

Its sunday morning and I´m actually on my desk doing some work trying to sort out my website. Going through my images and found an old sketch I quite like so gonna post it. Website in 7 days hopefully!!
